- Wrap the legs of furniture like tables and chairs with pieces of cloth, towels or just put socks on them. In this way if they get in contact with the floor, the doors or the door frames, you will have minimized the chance of dents and other damages. Plus, if you want to protect your floors and carpets during the relocation, you should use this trick for other furniture with legs, that are out of metal.
- If you have fragile items, use towels, clothes and linens to wrap them before you place them in a box and that is very important. Make sure that it is clear what every blanket, towel, etc. contains – what if the movers don’t know that pieces of your precious china are wrapped up in those kitchen towels and throw them on the floor?

- For items like brooms, lamp stands, rakes, etc. use a rope to tie them up and tape for extra safety. This will protect them from shifting in the truck and causing damages to your furniture. Wrap the sharp edges well, too. Never let them loose!
- You can use pillows in between the large and heavy furniture in the truck for protection against friction. Use for protection in the truck moving pads or moving blankets. Bed linen is not a very good idea as it could tear and break under the pressure of heavy furniture on it. On the other hand, if you want to save on moving costs, you can use your own blankets instead. You just have to wash them after the move is over before you use them again. Also place blankets on the floor of the moving truck for the same reason – better furniture protection.
- Every item that can scratch should be wrapped - sharp edges of tables, headboards, etc. You can use furniture padding in between those items inside the moving truck. If you have small parts like bolts, wrap them in bubble wrap and place them with the furniture they belong to so they don’t get lost; you can tape them to the legs of the chair or table they belong to.
